Dr. Gina M. Harrison is the Principal at Gateway Lab School. For more than three decades, she has enjoyed a distinguished career in education and behavioral consulting. She has worked as a therapist and educational diagnostician at Terry Children’s Psychiatric Center and the owner of Lane Day School and Lane Cares, a non-profit organization dedicated to children with special needs. In the higher education setting, Gina has taught both graduate and undergraduate classes in special education, autism spectrum disorder, applied behavior analysis and assistive technology.
Her teaching certifications in both Delaware and Pennsylvania include Teacher of Special Education with additional endorsements in children with learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and autism. In addition, Gina is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Medicine as a Behavior Specialist. As a licensed Behavior Specialist, Gina has trained teachers, parents and staff in behavior modification and best practices in changing behaviors in children and adults. She received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Early Education in 2000 and is the mother of three adult children- all of whom work in the field of special education.
Her passion is to help children and families navigate challenges in their respective growth and development. Each month she will provide you with information that will address many of the issues we encounter in educating and nurturing our children. Please check each month for these resources.
Dr. Harrison's overall goal is to facilitate the collaboration of home/school/community in guiding student success. It is with an infusion of ingenuity, decorum and academic rigor that students thrive in an academic environment. She looks forward to getting to know each and every one of you!
